Ars: Five reasons to seriously consider buying a netbook
Ars Technica are listing 5 reasons to seriously consider buying a netbook. I have spoken a few times lately about their appeal. I love, love, love the how I can have everything I could possibly need in a notebook with me at all times. With the 15" MacBook Pro I have a desktop, notebook, full power, portable computer that will never fail to impress me. Still, there is a lure to those small, cheap, ultimately fail netbooks.
I say fail because they are poorly designed by definition. Web pages are commonly designed to be viewed on 13"+ displays running at 1280*1024, or at least 1024*768. Thus, a 7-10" display is inadequate for their main purpose. Yes, I still want one. Samsung claim 8 hours on the NC10 :D
SPOILER ALERT!!!
For those who want to know, the 5 reasons listed are as follows:
1. Netbooks don't have to be your primary computer
2. They're not underpowered for what they really do
3. They're sitting on the edge of a ubiquitous connectivity revolution
4. You can dock
5. The price and size appeal is real
I agree then with all but point 1. Oh, and who uses VGA apart from netbooks now? [Related to point 4.]
